Welcome to the TBNZ Clean Sport page. Here you will find all you need to navigate clean sport, whether you’re looking for education courses, information on medications and supplements, or needing to apply for a Therapeutic Use Exemption.
Background
In 2007 the TBNZ Board resolved to adopt the anti-doping rules as laid out in the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) Anti-Doping Code. TBNZ further committed to promote and manage compliance with the Sports Anti-Doping Rules made by the Sport Integrity Commission (Previously Drug Free Sport New Zealand), and any amendments to or replacements of those Rules. Education courses have been built into the recertification requirements of TBNZ registered coaches and are a requirement for those traveling overseas as part of a national team.
Why is clean sport such a big deal?
Clean sport ensures athletes compete on a level playing field and any achievements are down to the hard work, talent and skills of the athletes. This upholds the true spirit of the sport.

DID YOU KNOW?
The athlete is 100% responsible for everything that goes into their body.
There are 11 Anti-Doping Rules. All of them apply to athletes, 7 of them also apply to support personnel (managers, coaches, administrators, etc.).
Supplement manufacture is unregulated. Therefore, there is no guarantee that they do not contain prohibited substances.
An anti-doping violation could lead to a ban from ALL sports, not just bowling. This includes training, competing or coaching.
Sanctions for an anti-doping violation can include disqualification of results from current and previous competitions. This may also affect team results.
