David Davies
TBNZ, on behalf of the Board, Management Team and Membership, would like to acknowledge the passing of David Davies on Sunday 2nd May 2021 and extend our condolences to his family and friends.
As most of you will be aware, David was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer two years ago. David faced this challenge fiercely and graciously, in the same manner that he faced many of us on the lanes and how he worked behind the scenes for TBNZ.
David competed at the highest level of tenpin bowling for over 20 years – including representing New Zealand at the Commonwealth Games in 1998, multiple World Cup appearances and his last international representation at the Asian Zone Champs in 2012. David also currently holds the national record for career perfect games, a record he has held for over a decade.
David has also worked tirelessly behind the scenes on the TBNZ Management Team for many years, which included maintaining the TBNZ website and compiling standings for our domestic competitions. David also recently served on the TBNZ Board, including as chairperson, to develop and promote the sport that we all enjoy.
David, on behalf of TBNZ, you have fought a courageous fight that every one of us can respect and admire. You will be missed, but never forgotten.
David’s funeral is to be held at Manukau Memorial Gardens on Thursday 6 May at 1pm. It is also expected to be live streamed for those around the country who are unable to attend in person.
